Australian Aboriginal culture teaches that when a person dies, their soul is lifted to the skies on the wings of an eagle. I couldn’t think of a more magnificent escort and guide upon my own passing. The Wedge-Tailed Eagle is the largest Australian bird of prey. I see them soaring around my home. I had the joy of seeing five of these glorious birds soaring and playing together as I watched from a window of my home. It is said that you are protected by a greater force when you see one, not an uncommon lore around the world as eagles are associated with great spirit. I find this a very comforting and beautiful thought.
